Our
Initiatives
We have split You Look Like Me up into three unique initiatives that serve different purposes for our high schoolers. Explore the different focuses that YLM serves.

POWER Initiative
POWER stands for Preparing Outstanding Women for Excellence and Resilience. The POWER initiative was created to uplift, educate, and empower young women by preparing them for lifelong success through mentorship, leadership development, community service, and sisterhood. POWER provides a safe and supportive environment where young women can build confidence, develop life skills, and connect with mentors and peers who encourage growth and resilience. Through workshops, service opportunities, networking, and personal development experiences, POWER aims to help young women realize their value, embrace their potential, and become leaders in their schools, communities, and future careers. At You Look Like Me, we believe women deserve to be supported, seen, and celebrated—because when women rise, entire communities rise with them.
STRONG Initiative
STRONG stands for Supporting Thriving Resilient Opportunities for Next-Generation Growth. The STRONG initiative is dedicated to guiding the next generation of young men toward leadership, purpose, and positive growth. Through mentorship, leadership training, community service, and character development, STRONG creates opportunities for young men to grow into resilient and impactful leaders. The initiative focuses on building confidence, accountability, discipline, and integrity while helping participants navigate challenges and discover opportunities beyond their current circumstances. STRONG emphasizes that young men are more than statistics or environments, because they are future changemakers, mentors, and role models capable of making a lasting difference in their communities and beyond.
