You Look Like Me: Thee Kulture Clinic Inspires the Next Generation of Percussionists Through Rhythm, Leadership, and Legacy

On August 9, the sounds of passion, precision, and percussion filled the halls of Callaway High School as Thee Kulture Clinic brought together drummers and aspiring percussionists from across the city for a transformative day of music education and community connection. The clinic, held from 12 PM to 5 PM, was led by Braylon Gamble a Jackson State University alum, former section leader, and proud member of both the Sonic Boom of the South and WT (War & Thunder) drumline.

Under Braylon's leadership, Thee Kulture Clinic was created to give percussionists of all ages and skill levels the opportunity to learn, grow, and sharpen their craft in a welcoming and structured environment.

Throughout the afternoon, participants rotated through hands on stations where they received live demonstrations, technical tips, and one-on-one guidance from both current WT members and members of Mu Phi Sigma, a percussion fraternity known for its commitment to musical excellence and mentorship. Whether beginners or advanced performers, every attendee walked away with new skills, valuable insights, and a renewed love for their instrument.

The day culminated in a final performance, where participants showcased what they learned and experienced the joy of performing together as one united rhythm section a celebration of progress, collaboration, and culture.

Thanks to the hard work of Braylon Gamble, the volunteer instructors, and all who contributed behind the scenes, Thee Kulture Clinic was a resounding success. The event not only uplifted local talent but also honored the rich legacy of percussion in Jackson’s musical landscape.

At its core, Thee Kulture Clinic was about more than music. It was about preserving tradition, building confidence, and creating space for young artists to see themselves in those who’ve walked the path before them.

From the Sonic Boom to the classrooms of Callaway High School, the beat goes on and thanks to leaders like Braylon Gamble, the future of percussion is louder, prouder, and more inspired than ever.
